Summer Holidays at The Farmhouse Kitchen & Pantry

Looking for family-friendly things to do in Suffolk this summer? Whether you’re planning a day out, passing through on your way to the coast or enjoying a countryside stay, The Farmhouse Kitchen & Pantry is the perfect place to stop.

Nestled on our working dairy farm at Wheatacre, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. From delicious breakfasts and homemade lunches to friendly farm animals, beautiful walks and plenty of sweet treats, it’s a place where families can relax and make lasting memories together.

Start the Day Right

Breakfast is always a good idea, especially during the school holidays.

Our kitchen serves a range of freshly prepared breakfasts made using produce from the farm wherever possible. One of our most-loved dishes is Head Chef Billy’s cinnamon French toast with mascarpone cream, fresh berries and maple syrup, while our fluffy Wheatacre buttermilk pancakes with crispy bacon and maple syrup have become a firm family favourite.

We also have a delicious children’s menu, so even the fussiest little eaters will find something they’ll enjoy.

Meet the Farm Animals

One of the things families love most about visiting is meeting our friendly farm animals.

Say hello to our goats, donkeys, sheep and, of course, our dairy cows that make everything possible. Keep an eye out for our newest arrivals, Woody and Buzz, who have already become firm favourites with visitors.

If you’re staying at Wheatacre Hall Barns, you’ll also have the opportunity to watch the cows being milked – a real highlight for children (and plenty of adults too!).

Farm to Fork

Everything starts with our cows at Esburroughs Dairy.

Their fresh milk is used throughout The Farmhouse Kitchen & Pantry, from our delicious coffees to our incredibly popular chocolate milkshakes, made using Suffolk Meadow Ice Cream and topped with plenty of whipped cream.

If the sun is shining, there’s no better way to cool down.

And while you’re here, why not pop into The Pantry? You’ll find Suffolk Meadow Ice Cream, homemade cakes, local produce, fresh milk and plenty of treats to take home or enjoy on your journey.

Our talented new Pastry Chef, Millie, has joined the team after working everywhere from New York to a three AA Rosette restaurant in North Norfolk, as well as spending a year perfecting her craft in Australia. Be sure to save room for dessert!

A Great Stop on Your Summer Adventures

Whether you’re heading to the Norfolk Broads, travelling to the Suffolk coast or exploring the local countryside, we’re perfectly placed for a relaxing stop along the way.

Enjoy breakfast, lunch, coffee and cake, browse The Pantry, stretch your legs with a countryside walk and let the children meet the animals before continuing your adventure.

Bring the Dog Too

Your four-legged family members are always welcome.

We’re proud to be dog friendly, making us the ideal stop after exploring the local footpaths or visiting nearby Waterheath Dog Meadow. There’s plenty of outdoor seating and beautiful countryside walks to enjoy.

If you’re planning a longer break, Wheatacre Hall Barns offers the perfect countryside escape, with dog-friendly accommodation just a short stroll from The Farmhouse Kitchen & Pantry.

Helping Reduce Food Waste

We’re also proud to be recognised as a Too Good To Go Local Hero.

Keep an eye on the Too Good To Go app for our Surprise Bags and help us reduce food waste while picking up some delicious treats at the same time.

About Us

As a multi-generational family-run farm and business, our heritage and story are so meaningful to us and act as the life force behind all that we do. The farm itself started with one man, a few cows and some pigs, and over the generations, we have changed, adapted and grown to where we are now. The Farmhouse Kitchen is a natural extension of our farm, giving us another opportunity to serve our local community and create meaningful connections with those around us.
