Introducing The Farmhouse Kitchen: A new chapter for our family farm

The Burroughs family has been farming in Norfolk and Suffolk for generations, and we are incredibly proud of our heritage. What began with our great-grandfather and just a few cows and pigs has grown into a thriving dairy farm, luxury holiday retreat, farm shop, and now, The Farmhouse Kitchen. As we expand our successful Pantry and rebrand our business, we invite you to experience our warm and welcoming countryside kitchen, offering fresh, local produce and a true taste of farm-to-fork dining.

A family legacy rooted in farming

Farming is in our blood, and each generation of the Burroughs family has played a role in evolving our business to support the local community. Our dairy farm, which now milks nearly 500 pedigree cows, remains at the heart of everything we do. From providing fresh milk to local businesses to crafting delicious dishes in our kitchen, our passion for quality food and sustainability drives us forward.

Each family member has a unique role:

  • David Burroughs leads the dairy farm, waking at 4 am each morning to care for the cows.
  • Joanna Burroughs manages the barn-conversion holiday lets and our beloved Pantry.
  • Jamie Burroughs oversees dairy production alongside David, supported by his wife Kayleigh and daughter Tabitha.
  • Lindsay Miller and her husband Allistair handle the wholesale milk business, farm administration, and now, The Farmhouse Kitchen.

The Farmhouse Kitchen: A natural expansion

Our new Farmhouse Kitchen is an extension of our ethos—good food, great company, and a deep connection to our local community. After the success of The Pantry, we recognised a growing demand for high-quality, locally sourced dining. With an old building on our land in disrepair, we saw an opportunity to transform it into something special.

Whether you’re stopping by for a hearty breakfast, a leisurely lunch, or a slice of homemade cake with your coffee, The Farmhouse Kitchen is designed to bring people together over delicious food.

Farm-to-fork philosophy

We take pride in serving seasonal, locally sourced produce, with much of it coming directly from our own farm. Our ever-changing menu features classic favourites alongside chef’s specials, all crafted with care and using the freshest ingredients.

We are committed to working with local suppliers, ensuring that every dish reflects the best Norfolk and Suffolk have to offer. Of course, our own dairy milk is a staple ingredient, making our dairy delights truly farm-fresh.

A stunning countryside setting

Located in the rural village of Wheatacre, near Beccles, The Farmhouse Kitchen sits within our 1,110-acre working farm. Visitors can enjoy the tranquil beauty of the Waveney Valley while dining in a space filled with rustic charm and warm hospitality. Whether you’re a local or exploring the Norfolk countryside, we welcome you to experience the relaxed, friendly atmosphere of our new kitchen.

More than just a kitchen

Our expansion doesn’t stop at The Farmhouse Kitchen. Alongside it, The Pantry continues to serve the community with fresh fruit and vegetables, local meats, fine foods, and our own dairy products. Visitors can take a piece of our farm home with them, stocking up on ingredients inspired by their meal with us.

About Us

As a multi-generational family-run farm and business, our heritage and story are so meaningful to us and act as the life force behind all that we do. The farm itself started with one man, a few cows and some pigs, and over the generations, we have changed, adapted and grown to where we are now. The Farmhouse Kitchen is a natural extension of our farm, giving us another opportunity to serve our local community and create meaningful connections with those around us.
