The Farmhouse Kitchen & Pantry – Finalists at the Norfolk & Suffolk Food & Drink Awards 2025

We are absolutely thrilled to share some exciting news – The Farmhouse Kitchen & Pantry has been named finalists for not one, but two awards at the Norfolk & Suffolk Magazine Food & Drink Awards 2025.

These prestigious awards celebrate the very best of our region’s food and drink scene, shining a light on the incredible producers, purveyors, innovators, and entrepreneurs who make Norfolk and Suffolk such a vibrant place for food lovers. With entries open to both businesses and consumer nominations, the awards are a true celebration of community, talent, and passion for great food and drink.

Two Categories, Two Stories

We’re proud to have been shortlisted in two very special categories:

Field to Fork Award – Sponsored by Hotel School at City College Norwich

This category champions businesses that connect farming, produce, and hospitality in a way that brings the field-to-fork journey to life. For us, this recognition reflects the heart of everything we do.

Finalists in this category include: Barsham Brewery, English Whisky Co, Norfolk and Better, and us, The Farmhouse Kitchen & Pantry.

Set in the Waveney Valley near Beccles, the Burroughs family has been farming for generations at E S Burroughs & Sons, building a business rooted in sustainability, community, and respect for the Norfolk countryside. Over the years, that tradition has grown into a thriving rural hub that combines farming, food, and hospitality.

From Wheatacre Hall Barns to The Pantry farm shop, and most recently The Farmhouse Kitchen café and restaurant, our mission has always been the same – to connect people to great food, to support local producers, and to celebrate Norfolk and Suffolk’s rural heritage. Milk from our pedigree dairy herd runs through much of what we do, from lattes at the café to produce in The Pantry, embodying a true field-to-fork ethos.

Best Newcomer Award – Sponsored by Flour & Bean

This recognition is especially exciting for us. The Farmhouse Kitchen only opened its doors in March 2025, so to be named a finalist so soon after welcoming our first guests feels like a huge achievement.

Finalists in this category include: Bar Cerdita, The Last Norwich, and The White Horse Holme Pub and Bakery.

Run by Lindsay and Alastair Miller, The Farmhouse Kitchen has quickly become a cosy countryside café and restaurant that’s all about simple, honest food. Set within a beautifully rebuilt stable block on the family farm, the café serves breakfasts, lunches, cakes, and coffee, all shaped by seasonal ingredients sourced as locally and sustainably as possible.

Visitors love the relaxed atmosphere, stunning farmland views, and warm welcome – while our chefs and team are proud to showcase the best of local suppliers and produce. Being recognised as one of Norfolk and Suffolk’s best newcomers is a true honour, and one we share with our brilliant team and loyal customers.

A Night of Celebration

The awards ceremony will take place on Monday 20 October 2025 at Epic Studios, Norwich, with a relaxed evening of grazing boards, entertainment, and a spectacular after-party to celebrate the winners and finalists.

We are so proud to be standing alongside such incredible local businesses – from breweries and distilleries to pubs, bakeries, and restaurants – all working hard to make our food and drink scene thrive.

What’s Next

With Christmas approaching, our attention will soon turn to festive menus and seasonal celebrations at The Farmhouse Kitchen & Pantry. But for now, we’re looking forward to celebrating at the awards ceremony – and we’ll be sure to let you know how we get on.

Keep your eyes peeled for updates after Monday 20 October, and in the meantime, we’d like to raise a glass to our amazing team, our local suppliers, and of course, our customers – without whom this recognition simply wouldn’t be possible.

If you’re searching for farm-to-fork cafés in Norfolk, or want to experience the warmth of a family-run countryside café and farm shop, we’d love to welcome you soon.

About Us

As a multi-generational family-run farm and business, our heritage and story are so meaningful to us and act as the life force behind all that we do. The farm itself started with one man, a few cows and some pigs, and over the generations, we have changed, adapted and grown to where we are now. The Farmhouse Kitchen is a natural extension of our farm, giving us another opportunity to serve our local community and create meaningful connections with those around us.
